UKD BLUEFIN RETURNS TO PORTUGAL
UK Dredging’s (UKD) deep-sea hopper dredger, UKD Bluefin, recently departed for Portugal for the second time this summer to undertake a maintenance dredging contract at the Port of Viana do Castelo in south-west Portugal.
This latest campaign is one in a succession of short-term summer contracts UKD has secured, which includes dredging work both in the UK and in Europe. In June, UKD Bluefin made her first visit to Portugal, where she carried out, under charter to Danish dredging group Rohde Nielsen, maintenance dredging contracts at the Ports of Lisbon, Oporto and Viana do Castelo.
Gareth Pollit, UKD’s General Manager, said:
“We are very pleased that UKD Bluefin, like our other dredgers, is very much in demand. We have been carrying out an increasing amount of work in Europe, enhancing our reputation for providing a cost-effective and efficient dredging service.”
UKD Bluefin will also complete a two-month contract in the Baltic states in mid-July before returning to the Port of Southampton in September.
