UK Dredging, the dredging arm of Associated British Ports (ABP), the UK’s leading and largest ports group, has appointed Stephen Johns as Hydrographic Survey Manager, with effect from 4 March 2002.

Mr Johns, 36, has worked as a hydrographic surveyor for UK Dredging since 1999 and was previously based in the Netherlands, where he was employed by Furgo Survey B.V. as an offshore surveyor. This position involved oil-rig positioning, pipeline surveying and the maintenance of offshore equipment. In his new post, Mr Johns will be responsible for managing UK Dredging’s survey requirements while seeking to expand the company’s existing range of services.

Gareth Pollit, General Manager, UK Dredging, said:

“Stephen has a sound knowledge of UK Dredging’s work as well as a strong background in the marine industry and I look forward to working with him on forthcoming projects in his new capacity as Hydrographic Survey Manager.”

A keen open-water diver and motorcyclist, Mr Johns has a BSc (Hons) degree in Marine Geography from the University of Wales, Cardiff. He will be based initially at UK Dredging’s Grimsby office before moving to its head office in Barry later in the year.
