UK Dredging (UKD), the dredging division of Associated British Ports (ABP), has recorded a successful year in 2002, winning major new external contracts.

In addition to ongoing contracted work for Forth Ports, a long-term vessel-charter agreement with Rohde Nielsen, one of the world’s leading dredging contractors, contributed substantially to the level of third-party works. UKD won further contracts in the UK and abroad, including works for the Port of Tyne Authority, the Port of Sunderland and the French port of Rouen.

The division’s range of services will be enhanced in 2003 with the delivery of UKD Sealion, a £1.5 million dredging-support vessel. UKD Sealion will further strengthen UKD’s position regarding external contracts, as well as providing a useful new asset for servicing ABP’s ports.

Budha Majumdar, ABP Port Director, South Wales Ports, and responsible for UKD, said:

“The year 2002 was very positive for UKD, with a number of important new projects, and I am confident that, with the continued dedication and professionalism of the UKD team, we will build on these successes in 2003.”
